I wish this place remains hidden for what it offers. The huge basalt monolith remains unknown to tourist and most locals alike. The road to reach Gilbert hill is very narrow and unclean. You can drive your 2 wheeler upto the gate. Cars won't find parking space. It takes about 10-15 min to reach the top. There is no entry fee. The view is mesmerizing. You can see the sea, the airport and the city. Good time to visit will be in the evenings before sunset. Post sunset the view of the city lights is captivating. There is a temple on the top with good seating arrangements outside. In the past one year the infrastructure is crumbling. I hope the repairs and cleaning drive resumes soon. Highly recommended!

A must visit place for everyone. Most historical and geographical place. Gilbert hill the oldest monolith on earth. 66 millions year old. And only 3 giant monolith are there one of them is gilbert hill in mumbai and other 2 are in foreign countries. This place has many importance and hence do remember whenever anyone visits plz dont spoil or make any harm to place. Please take care of this thing. On the top there is hindu gav devi temple. Beautifully made at the top and even the view also amazing from top. Do visit.

It is 15 minutes walking distance from the Andheri railway station. One can access it here by 2 Wheeler, 4 wheelers cannot go as it is very congested at bottom of the hill. Slum maintenance is not good. It is a hidden place in Mumbai and it should be. It is a 66 million-year-old hill originating from Lava. It has stairs to climb. On the hilltop, there is the Gavdevi temple. Very calm and peaceful place. You can have a beautiful view of the Andheri Juhu area. A wonderful monument needs to be maintained by the tourists and locals.

A hidden wonder in the city of dreams. This hill is important, both historically and geographically. It is a 200 ft monolith single stone) column of black basalt rock at Andheri. The rock has a sheer vertical face and was formed when molten lava was squeezed out of the Earth's clefts during the Mesozoic Era about 66 million years ago. There is also a temple on the top of this hill which has actually helped in saving this unique structure. Concrete jungle around has reached till 5 ft close to this hill. There are only two other such structures on entire Earth, such is the uniqueness of this hill. To reach: Azad Nagar Metro station is the closest from where you can walk for 10-12 mins or also take an Auto that can reach in 2-3 mins. Even a car can be easily driven to the foot of this hill by this route. There is another route from Navrang cinema through slums, but it is very narrow, not easily accessible, need to walk upwards for 10 mins as even a two wheeler is not easy to ride here, also not really safe, so better go from Azad Nagar metro station side which is much better, safer and a cleaner route. To reach by the Azad Nagar metro route using Google Maps, select the Gaondevi temple on this hill as the destination. If you select Gilbert Hill, it will take you through the second route which is not really a good option.
